This one bit me just 2x days ago, so believe me,
I'm aware of the issue -
However, isn't the correct approach to fix the broken packages?
I do understand this is a widespread problem that creates a lot of
maintenance overhead w/r/t packages - however, getting in touch
with people using linuxisms (or SunOS-isms, or ...isms, ...) and
notifying them that "hey, we are a community, we want to use
your software, and yes, you *should* code portably" seems like
a better way to engage the overall issue.
That being said, I'm sure there will be enough other
fixes for other *isms to keep all of us busy and provide
plenty of community engagement.
So idk - maybe this is just a 2c. I'm still 60%/40% 'nay'
Cheers,
- Chris
