git: Revert "printf(1): don't use getopt"

:This is simply wrong.  If you don't want to print --, don't pass it.  This is a clear violation of the standard.  If NetBSD and FreeBSD feel like doing this, fine, but we should not.

    Any script that uses printf, like apropos (make -k), will likely
    be passing -- to it.  If everyone else's printf(1) works like this,
    then ours should as well.
