:A minor thing - Redhat uses /etc/redhat-release and Debian uses
:/etc/debian_version - can we do something like /etc/dragonfly-version ? 
:If we're going to add a file, it may as well match a minor trend.
    
    I'm all for something like that, though because the names are not
    encoded to any particular standard ours should be in /etc/upgrade/
    somewhere.

    Someone mentioned /etc/uname... not sure if that's encoded to any
    general standard either but it's worth researching.  The 'uname'
    program is the only thing that's actually standardized across platforms.
