You do know that "nroff -man FILE" works fine, do you? ;-)
I think man does more: it deals with the locale and runs the page through some filters.
(Note that I'm not against "man -F". It's less typing.)
Oh, it might gone in unnoticed: I removed the -F again, man now simply searches for a file as the last resort.
