:While it's true that several of those documents are outdated and 
:historic there are some that still apply quite well and might be useful 
:to get new users going more quickly (at a point before they have the 
:source code, i.e. when booting from the LiveCD).

    Well, lets take a poll.  My feeling is that the documents either aren't
    used, or only a small part of them are used, or more up-to-date
    information is available on the web anyway (cut-and-paste a URL).  Since
    nobody is likely to be installing named or sendmail without some outside
    access, I wouldn't expect the number of people actually using them
    to be very high.

    The last time I personally used those documents was once, a few years
    ago, to look some stuff up about named.
