Sure, it is. My .cshrc on leaf has:
setenv MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX /unused3/joerg/obj
setenv __MAKE_CONF /home/joerg/make.conf
setenv CVSREADONLYFS 1

All three are handy. Which reminds me, any objection to move ISODIR
under OBJDIR and use that for NRLOBJDIR as default as well?
