	I suggest that you look at the getcwd() merge work done by
	Bruce M. Simpson of the FreeBSD Project.
	He has effectively cleaned up the Linux Emulation's getcwd()
	and the base getcwd call and merged them into one.  If I
	recall correctly, the work is already committed into the
	HEAD branch for quite a few months now so it is pretty stable.
