This issue has been resolved.  What's more, the audio subsystem has been synced with FreeBSD since then.

Using GENERIC on x86_64, 3.0-RELEASE.  All audio output massively stutters:

I recorded this on my laptop, while playing an mp3 (with mpg123) on my dragonflybsd desktop.  The quality is not great, but you can hear what I'm describing.
