dma_timeouts at phyaddr on a good hdd

got several inconvenients recovering data from a "pseudo" dying drive.
ad2: -> dma_timeout reading from device at address rrrrrr
several "software" spinlocks on a working hdd.
btw i couldnt build hdparm on the 64bit version. DF2.8.2

several folders died, the rest of recovery went allright.
then vm_fault reading from blah blah.
mostly none of those crashes stuffed the system therefore
i´m very happy with the vm filesystem.

btw. i´m still unable to build pkgsrc. i feel like newbie

could it happen again on any working hdd?
