New submission from Joe "Floid" Kanowitz <jkanowitz at snet.net>:
Just filing this to warn and document for other "Radeon Xpress" users with the
rs480-class chips: The xorg-driver-ati 6.9.0 in pkgsrc regresses versus some
earlier versions in DDC support (if that was ever working?) and possibly some
other aspects. DDC appears to be fixed in freedesktop.org git, so this should
trickle down but not until they cut a new release.
In my case it looks like 6.9.0 is not detecting my monitor at all (DVI,
previously working) and/or is not accepting the 1440x900 modeline that I had
been using as valid. I'll be giving the current freedesktop.org tree a shot
when time permits.
So if you have this hardware, expect some headaches in the short term.
