    There was a bug a month ago related to stdclose but it has long since
    been fixed.  Tripple check that you are actually running the latest
    HEAD.  Do a complete recompile of your kernel.

    There are currently some issues with shutdown, but not related to 
    close().  They are mostly related to unmounting.
