libthread_xu not working correctly with ssl?

hey,

something fishy happened on my UP setup running -CURRENT (from 
chlamydia) and binary packages.

The system per default uses libthread_xu and firefox and thunderbird 
both have problems connecting to sslized services.  switching back to 
libc_r fixed the problem.  the only strange thing is that i could read 
mails yesterday...
