Installer login broken (ncurse?)

Yeah,

I noticed this, too. It is because the dfuife_curses package corecode
puts on the CD is still linked against the old ncurses. I guess
there's  nothing we can do about it until he returns from Madrid.
You can try

  http://cvs.bsdinstaller.org/iso-images/dfly-2005.0319.iso.bz2

in the meantime (in fact please do so, if you want to use/test the
installer.)

I just tried to install dfly from the iso in the link above.

First of all, the installer looks fine.

But I can not format the hard drive.
newfs /dev/da1s1a times out, and the log reports
'write error: 80
->>> Exit status: 36'
The CD boots from an ide cd-rw unit, and the target
disk is a scsi disk, scsi id 1, attached to the mpt1 device.
Is using scsi hard drives a known issue?
