That has been in libc for ages. Most of the programs works fine with
both getopt (!) implementations, the GNU programs even expect the
behaviour _not_ implemented by the BSD getopt. But I don't think that's
the root of the problem here.
Hm.  I don't know exactly what the problem was, but a deletion of the
/usr/src tree and a fresh cvsup fixed the problem.
