Shocking success for gcc40!

Okay, maybe I've been watching too much television news --
but I really was surprised by this result:

I tried building samba3 (both pkgsrc and ports) with very
bad results -- smbd terminated with a 'stack overflow' every
time any samba connection attempt was made.

Out of pure desperation I tried building samba3 with gcc40 --
and it works perfectly!

This suggests (to my sluggish brain) that there may be a bug
in gcc34 (?)

May I request that one of the Big Kids should try building the
samba3 port and see if you can reproduce my results?
