Problem with cvsup hanging ...

I've been trying this for a few days now and I keep having problems.  
I'm trying to cvsup the FreeBSD ports collection as well as 
DragonFlyBSD's source collection.  Any time I try to do this, the 
computer will completely lock up at some random point in the cvsup 
process.  I've tried with ACPI on and off (it's a laptop), and 
absolutely can't isolate the issue.  There are no kernel panic messages, 
nothing in logs, etc.  Just a complete lock up.  The machine is a 
Toshiba Satellite 1695CDT.  Any help would greatly be appreciated!
