Weird chmod behaviour

:Hm.  After updating world/kernel just now I can't reproduce the problem
:any more.  Just before rebooting I did 'make upgrade' four times and
:got incorrect perms on /dev/null each time.  Maybe the problem has
:been fixed already.

    I haven't done anything.  Well, keep messing around with it and report
    if the problem reoccurs.  I suspect the bug is still there somewhere.
