xfree won't compile

Oh man,

I was tricked by that darn xfree86-4 infinite make loop for quite some
time -- until it dawned on me that my xfree86-4 compile was _still_
compiling.

Even worse, installing from the binaries just gives me a broken
xfree86-4. Does anyone know why this is?

I thought it was my fault so I reinstalled everything, but needless to
say it still didn't work.

By the content of recent bug posts I suspect this is being worked on
but, just in case...
Fresh DF install from 2/29 live-cd allowed me to buildworld and build
kernel using gcc3. However, xfree86-4 does not compile with either gcc3
or gcc2. gcc3 gives the imake problem, gcc2 spins in a loop trying to
config ( I think in the dfport override ). I'm sorry I don't have time
at the moment to fix this or do anything other than report.
