DOH!  I love you!  :)

Sound is coming out of the onboard chip/jack.  My system is now 
completely usable as far as I am concerned.  You guys are great!  I'll 
just pull the Soundblaster and pop it back into my BeOS machine.

Sanity check: make sure your speakers/headphones are plugged into the
correct output.  Since it looks like you have onboard sound and a SBLive
card, this could be at least two different places.
