O.K! I simply installed the package from gobsd.org... I saw that,
and I think maybe my system is a mishmash of DragonFly, 4.10 and 5.2! :)
Is there another forum to use for simple help and not-quite-newbie-but
almost-newbies? I am also having problems getting my sound configured
and could use a shoulder to cry on, so to speak.
Thanks again!

One of these days us simple users get a users@ list, which should
fullfill that need. What is your problem with sound? (btw you did made
the devices in /dev ?).
I did not specifically make any devices. This is what I have in /dev...
X1-6-00-10-DC-FD-C9-83# ls -la /dev/au*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 6 Aug 25 03:13 /dev/audio -> audio0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 8 Aug 25 03:13 /dev/audio0 -> audio0.0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 4 Aug 25 03:25 /dev/audio0.0
