Q: Splash Screen

Hiya,
I'm just wondering if anybody has ever managed to display a
splashscreen while booting? I just created a /boot/loader.conf
containing
splash_bmp_load="YES"
bitmap_load="YES"
bitmap_name="/boot/DFLogo.bmp"
bitmap_type="splash_image_data"
The "DFLogo.bmp" is a 123x70 8-Bit Bitmap residing in /boot, but it
doesn't show up as expected. I just downloaded the 800x600x8 Bitmap
suggested on shiningsilence.com, but it doesn't work either.
VESA support is in the kernel, and dmesg shows both relevant modules
being preloaded, namely /modules/splash_bmp.ko and /boot/DFLogo.bmp,
so I believe *in theory*, it *should* work. :-)
Not that important, though, I just came accross this sneaking the
/boot dir.
And yes, my screen IS switched on.
