slaballocation panic on boot

:This is very very likely to be a hardware related problem.  The machine in
:question is a pentium 150 with 64MB of edo ram that was given to me.  In the
:last several hours I have reinstalled 4.8-release on it 3 times.  Each time I
:would install world and kernel from an nfs mounted partition.  During this
:process I recieved a sig 11 and a panic related to the vm that looped
:indefinately.  I'll keep playing with this today, but its not too much fun to
:install over and over.  I'll let you know if it turns out to be a real panic.

    Ok.  The best indication of a hardware problem is when the machine
    crashes in different places (i.e. 'all over the map'), or at different
    times, or when programs get random seg faults.

    If this is happening then it is likely hardware.  The most common
    cause of bad hardware is bad memory.  If you have the ability to slow
    down the memory in the BIOS (e.g. by increasing the RAS and CAS clock
    cycle timing, or decreasing the memory bus speed if the BIOS has those
    controls), I would try that first.  If that fails I would try replacing
    the memory.  If that fails, well, throw the machine away? :-)
