Something like this is possible if the new kernel did not transplant in<br>
place of the old kernel.<br>
In that case, you may have to remove the the extra kernel.<br>
First you need to establish that you have the new kernel in place. Also you<br>
need a back up /home/*.* plus anything else you would want.<br>
I hope you have done this.<br>
Can you check to see if you two kernels?<br>

I reinstalled packages git, cmake, qt5-core, qt5-gui, qt5-linguist, xorg, and <br>
fftw3, which (except fftw3 which is optional) are required for building <br>
Bezitopo. I then tried to build PerfectTIN, which is similar, and got errors. <br>

The other is from pthread (PerfectTIN uses threads, which Bezitopo does not <br>
yet) and is in the attached file.<br>

I can tell which binaries in /usr/local/bin are left over from previous <br>
packages whose package database was lost; they're for DragonFly 4.0.105, <br>
5.0.500, or 5.0.601, instead of the current 5.0.900. But libraries in /usr/<br>
local/lib do not have an ABI version (as far as I can tell with the file <br>
command). How can I find these obsolete files and get rid of them?<br>

Or is there another package I need to install? The repos are at https://<br>
<a href="http://github.com/phma/perfecttin" target="_blank">github.com/phma/perfecttin</a> and <a href="https://github.com/phma/bezitopo" target="_blank">https://github.com/phma/<wbr>bezitopo</a> if you'd like <br>
to try building them.<br>

Everyone who didn't just install DFly has two kernels. I have 5.9 in /boot/<br>
kernel and 5.5 in /boot/kernel.old/. Also in /boot1/kernel I have 5.5 and in /<br>
boot1/kernel.old some older version.<br>

What went wrong is that the package database is in /var, and I didn't tar /var <br>
on the failed disk because the failed sector was in /var/log and I saw no <br>
point in transferring log files to the new disk. So when I upgraded packages, <br>
it did not delete the files belonging to the old packages.<br>
