Trouble running KDE or Gnome

HI All,

I am having issues following the rather sparse instructions for getting the
desktop operational with either Gnome or KDE.

I installed gnome3 as per the instruction, that did not even attempt to run
with GDM, starting it from .xinitrc then gave me enough feedback to realise
I had to install xorg (this should be a dependency of gnome3 right?)

I then did another startx and I get the attached errors .. seems the major
error is dbus, but I have that running ..

I also tried KDE with a similar issue ..

Any help much appreciated ..
