use "hammer volume-add" to add disk problem

use "hammer volume-add /dev/da2 /data" to add a disk to the /data
filesystem,if /dev/da2 is damaged or pull out,then the /data filesystem is
damaged and could not be mounted
How to fix  this problem or the only way is rebuild a filesystem  and lost
all data on /data?
