I've got an similar problem on a thinkpad X30 with Intel's i830 Chipset
and the "intel" driver.

On DragonFly 3.2.2 X has worked fine.

These are the errors/warnings from X -verbose:
========================================================================

(WW) intel(0): PIPEASTAT after: status: FIFO_UNDERRUN VSYNC_INT_STATUS

(WW) intel(0): drmDropMaster failed: Unknown error: -1
...
Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
     at http://wiki.x.org
 for help.
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional
information.

It would be fine, if this is fixable...

Sincerly

Harald
