Instant crash with Linux OpenOffice

I have seen bizarre crashes of OO on FreeBSD. The cause was that OO wants to
lock the files it works on, and those files were on a NFS mount with
lockd not working. Fixing the NFS locking solved the problem. Maybe this is 
something to explore.
