Getting a Canon scanner to work

The model of the scanner is Canon D660U, it uses the Plustek driver and
works in Linux.

sane-find-scanner reports

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2208 [CanoScan]) at
libusb:/dev/usb1:/dev/ugen0

Then i modified plustek.conf to this:

[usb] 0x04a9 0x2208

device /dev/ugen0

Then I ran scan scanimage -L to see if it finds the scanner, it hung for
about 30 seconds and then said that no scanner was found.

Any ideas?
