:Sorry if this is a repost, but the last 2 posts never appeared on the list,
:AFAICT.

Hmm. I think I saw something in the -command logs....

Yup. You posted the emails to users-command@ instead of users at .

:I'm trying to install xfce4 on yesterday's dfly snapshot. When it couldn't
:find libintl, I tried to install it again as a package, and while it was
:listed in the contents in the pkg database under /var/db/pkg/gettext-lib,
:xfce4 couldn't find libintl.so. So I tried to build it from scratch, but
:./configure produced the error 'compiler unable to create executables.'
:
:What the heck could this be?

I'm not sure what that error is but I wonder if it is related to a bug
that was in the daily ISO's for two days where the pkg_* binaries
installed by the ISO had the wrong embedded paths. Try this:

	strings /usr/pkg/sbin/pkg_add | fgrep tar

    You should see strings like:

	/usr/pkg/bin/tar

If you see strings like /usr/release/... then you caught the bug.
Re-bootstrapping pkgsrc (manually, not from the broken ISO) should
    fix it.
