You can drop in the boot prompt and type
  unset acpi_load
  boot
to avoid loading ACPI module(unless acpi_load="YES" is written in
/boot/loader.conf, in which case you have to type `unload' command first).
If it still locks up without loading ACPI, then I'd say it's nothing to do
with ACPI driver.

That's either in /etc/rc.d/random or /etc/rc.d/initrandom.
