    Well, with regards to having multiple versions of GCC in base... that is
    an absolute necessity.  It is just not possible for us to 'upgrade' GCC
    to a new major release without a huge amount of testing, often by many
    people, because new versions of GCC invariably break things.  GCC is
    undergoing constant development.  DragonFly has the infrastructure to
    support multiple compilers for just this reason.
