"they" say compile time for .c code is slower, for .cc especially with 
lots of templates is much faster. i can confirm the c++ part.

like asmo said, it got better warning messages than gcc3, so we might 
want to use it to occasionally check and clean code.

What about ProPolice ?

yes, doesn't exist yet. maybe it will be available in some distant time.
