Am I correct that it is now possible to go from Freebsd 5.x
to DragonFly and not need to install 4.x by follow the steps

moving to DragonFly impossible otherwise.
It is probably possible to adapt the work I did for the great
"64-bit time_t upgrade for freebsd-sparc" to help with a
switch to dragonfly from 5.x, but it would take some work and
some testing before I could say that tactic would really work.
In theory I think it should work if you know what you're doing,
but "theory" is not always the same as "reality".
You would be much much better off getting the ISO and burning
it to CD. If you have a really slow link, or no CD burner,
you can probably get someone to mail you a copy. I think one
of the BSD-selling places even have an earlier snapshot of the
ISO that you could buy.
