PCVT on DFly

Has anyone tried to use PCVT on DragonFly? I've never used it on FBSD, but I 
decided I would see how it is.  I was able to build the kernel with it, 
setting PCVT_FREEBSD first to 211 (I think) and later to 480.  Anytime I 
tried  to boot the kernel I would get through the beastie menu (freddie 
menu?) and then while it would show the loaded kernel modules the system 
would just hang, no disk activity, nothing.  I had to boot the syscons 
kernel. Does anyone know if PCVT actually works? :)
