I think he cvsuped the cvs repository itself.  Remember you then need to 
do a checkout from the directory you cvsuped.  E.g. if your cvs dir is 
/home/dcvs and you want to replace FreeBSD sources:
rm -rf /usr/src /usr/obj && cvs -d /home/dcvs co src
