Does disable hardware csum work?
If it does not working, leave hardware csum turned off and get me a
tcpdump file:
arp -ad
tcpdump -s 0 -w dump.bin -ni ale0

Generate ping and ftp traffic. A tcpdump file on other side could be
helpful too.
