:Abject apologies for being such a dunce, but I need help. This is what
:I've done so far:
:
:Compiled/rebooted a new kernel with "INVARIANTS" + "INVARIANT_SUPPORT"+
:"makeoptions DEBUG=-g" + "DDB".

    That's all correct.

:nfs-mounted(ro) the root directory of the linux box on /mnt.
:
:cd /mnt/usr/local/lib/mozilla-1.8a5/
:ldd ./mozilla-bin (this also produces a missing-lib error on FBSD)
:
:Now I have the 'blocked on lib' error and an uninterruptible wait
:on the 'mozilla-bin' process. So far, so good.

    Yup.

:Now I hit 'ctl-alt-esc' and all I get is a skull-and-crossbones icon!
:
:Okay, I switch to a pseudo-terminal and login as root and try the
:'ctl-alt-esc' again -- absolutely nothing happens. Nothing! :o(
:...
:I was expecting to start ddb so I could get a coredump. Can you
:tell me where I went wrong (in baby steps, of course)?
:

You don't have to login as root. ctl-alt-esc from a character
console should have worked. I'm not sure why it didn't.

Try booting normally, but don't start X, and when the machine
comes up try ctl-alt-esc on the character console right then
and there. If it works and you drop into ddb> you can 'cont'
to go back to normal operation.

    --

In anycase, don't worry about it too much. I am going to commit
another patch real soon now and would appreciate more testing!
