has this been tested?  i know on openbsd the prototype is:
void __stack_smash_handler(char [], int __attribute__((unused)));

void
__stack_smash_handler(char func[], int damaged)
{
        panic("smashed stack in %s", func);
}

with func and damaged reversed.
