startup stack overflow

Hi

I'm having a problem with 1.2.2 at the startup option screen(screen
with the cool dlfy:). This has been there from 1.2.0 actually.

When I press a [enter] or [space] everything boots fine. ACPI work,
etc. But when I leave it, it doesn't  "count out" and boot the
default. It Stops and gives me a error, that says something like this:

Error: Stack overflow
\
Hit [Enter].... some stuff

and then lots of 0s and an EE now and again.

When I press a key, the same type text appends to that already there.
I've recompiled the bootloader with gcc34 like suggested in another
email, but no luck.

I'm running a AMD64, Nforce2 chip set.
