Functionally broken or port-won't-build broken?

Both.

Autoconf-2.59 is wanted by net-snmp 5.2.1 configure,
but appears to be broken on DFLY.
Autoconf259 installed from pkgsrc, in right place, correct perms....
but net-snmp is not happy with it - claims it is missing from said place...
. .not right away, either.. something down the tree, but not ID'ed...
Attempt to build autoconf259 from ports fails on m4/gm4 and other errors,
despite several attempted workarounds.
. .

Dropped down into ~/work/net-snmp, tried manual configure, chasing error
message
in source, temporary hacks.

Stopped when error messages began to contradict themselves....

Needs a C programmer to go any further, possibly starting with a look
at autoconf, (ugh) as that is wanted by many things....
- I haven't coded in C since EcoSoft-C on CP/M-86, so..... 'No joy',
sorry.

By comparison:

Able to build net-snmp 5.2.1 on a FreeBSD-4.11-STABLE box < 2 weeks out
of date.
using -DWITHOUT_PERL=yes -DWITHOUT_IPV6=yes (as I did on some, not all,
DFLY runs..)
