BTW, is there a way to tell which compiler a file was compiled
with?  I've been grepping thru /sbin and /bin and /usr/bin and
I can't find the string 'cc' anywhere.  Seems to me that I've
been able to do this in years past.
try grepping for "GCC" or objdump -s | less and look for section 
".comment", though I'm not sure if this gets stripped off
