make upgrade overwrites /etc/mail/mailer.conf

:Well,
:
:>could we please not use this default stuff for mailer.conf? I mean, what for?
:>I completely fail to see the point, because this isn't something that can be
:>"partly overridden". it's like sshd_config...
:
:I don't see a reason for this, too, since make's upgrade target has
:already been fixed not to overwrite mailer.conf. And, as you say, it's
:no file being partly overridden...so what the fsck? What really
:bothers me is /etc/services being overwritten on every make upgrade,
:so modifying getservent() and its aunts and uncles makes pretty much
:sense to me.

Sorry, mixup between old and new threads.

/etc/mailer.conf is 'fixed', no further changes are envisioned.

The expectation for /etc/services is to have it and /etc/defaults/services.
