On my system:

drwxrwxr-x 3 1000 1000 512 Jul 11 16:27 /usr/local/share/pristine
drwxrwxr-x 2 1000 1000 512 Jul 11 16:27 /usr/local/share/pristine/etc

I also noticed that the first user I created started at 1001, not 1000. (I
added the user during the install process).

I also noticed that *many* of the files that the ports system or
pkg_add system installs (not sure which) often have ownership by an
unknown group and user.
