I have never had a BIOS update go wrong in at least 7 years.

Also, not all BIOS vendors provide adequate details about what changed
though. :(

But it isn't an answer like Matt said.  The problem FreeBSD always had was
going by the "we follow all the specs and require the hardware we run under
to follow it too".  In theory this is nice, in practice it just shows that a
lot of people can make mistakes, chipset designers even moreso.  And
unfortunately that's what kernel coders need to compensate for.
