Complete lockup when using ifconfig.

Hello,

I have a VIA CL6000 motherboard with a dual PCI extender installed
(Allows 2 PCI to be installed). When assigning an IP address to the
network adapter installed in the top slot the system completely locks
up. Remote SSH sessions, CTL-ATL-DEL and even the numlock key do not
respond. This happens no matter the order of the cards and does not time
out. I've tested with the GENERIC kernel and also with the 1.0A live cd.
I've updated the BIOS to the latest version. Removing the bottom card
has no effect.

This also occurs in FreeBSD 4.10 but not in FreeBSD 5.2.1. (Win2k is
also fine.). I'm currently trying to see if I can add the card as part
of a bridge.

Even the command "ifconfig wi0 up" results in the lockups.

I'm fairly sure it a problem with code inherited from FreeBSD 4 as
everything works fine under 5.2 and Windows. I know I have slightly
unusual hardware but I would appreciate some pointers;

a) Does anybody have any ideas?
b) Can you advise on how I can find out why/where it's locking up?
I've included dmesg output from DragonFly 1.0A and FreeBSD 5.2.1.

Regards

Gary
